How we respect privacy when we deal with
the personal information we collect.

This Privacy Policy applies to information we, the West Bridgford and District Local History Society (the Society), collect about individuals who interact with us. It explains what personal information we collect and how we use it.

1. Personal data that we process

We collect your name and address and, where provided, telephone number and email address.

We keep records of any money paid by you and gift aid declarations, together with any correspondence with you.

We believe that we do this on the basis of “legitimate interests”, enabling us to keep you informed of the work of the Society and keeping proper financial records open to scrutiny by appropriate authorities, such as HMRC.

2. How we use your data

We will only use your data for the purposes described above.

Where you provide your email address, we will send you emails concerning forthcoming activities of the Society and other local history matters likely to be of interest to members. Emails are currently sent using Mailchimp which provides a simple way for recipients to opt out of future emails.

3. When we share your data

We do not share your data with other organisations: the exception being should we ever be required by law to do so, e.g. to HMRC.

4. How long we keep your data

We are required by the Charity Commission to retain accounting records for six years. Apart from this requirement, we would be happy to delete your personal data upon request.

5. Rights you have over your data

You have a range of rights over your data, which include the following:

  • You have the right of access to your information.

  • You have the right to ask for rectification and/or deletion of your information.

  • You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner if you feel your rights have been infringed.

6. Cookies & usage tracking

Our web site does not use cookies and we would not be aware of any visits made to our web site, other than your use of our email contact form.
